This Privacy Policy explains how Central Wine & Liquor ("Central Wine & Liquor," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit this website, place an order with us, or shop in our store.

We are a licensed New York State liquor store. Some of the information we collect — your age, your identity at delivery, and records of your purchases — we collect because New York law requires it of us, not because we chose to.
1. You must be 21 or older
This website is intended only for people who are at least 21 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If you believe someone under 21 has given us personal information, email nycentralwinespirits@gmail.com and we will delete it.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password. When you order, we collect your date of birth so we can confirm you are 21 or older, along with your billing and delivery addresses, apartment and buzzer details, and any delivery instructions you leave. Your payment card details go directly to our payment processor, and we do not keep full card numbers on our own systems. We also hold your order history and preferences, any gift message and recipient details when you send an order to someone else, and the messages, reviews, and support requests you send us.
Information we collect automatically. Like most websites, ours records your IP address, device and browser type, and operating system, along with the pages you view, the links you click, the searches you run, and the items you add to your cart. We work out your approximate location from your IP address, and — only if you allow it — we use your device location to check whether your address falls inside our delivery area. We also use cookies and similar identifiers, which are described in Section 7.
Information from other sources. Our in-store point-of-sale system links your store purchases to your account. Our payment processors and fraud-prevention services tell us whether a payment can be trusted. Our delivery staff and shipping carriers tell us the outcome of a delivery, including whether ID was checked and who signed for the order. Our analytics and advertising providers tell us how the site is performing.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to take, verify, and fill your orders, whether you have chosen pickup, local delivery, or shipping, and to confirm that you are 21 or older both at checkout and at the moment we hand you the order. We use it to take payment, issue refunds, and prevent fraud, and to contact you about an order with confirmations, substitutions, delivery windows, and news of any delay.
Beyond individual orders, we use your information to answer your questions and provide customer service, to send you news about wines, tastings, and promotions if you have asked to hear from us, and to operate, secure, and improve this website and our store. We also use it to keep the records the New York State Liquor Authority and the tax authorities require us to keep.
4. Age and identity verification
When you order, we confirm your age at checkout and again when the order is handed to you. Our staff or the carrier will check the government-issued ID of the person receiving the order and record that the check was made. We keep these records for as long as New York law requires them and no longer, and we never use them for marketing.
5. When we share information
We share personal information with the companies that work for us: website and cloud hosting, our online store and point-of-sale platforms, payment processors, shipping carriers, email and text-message providers, customer-service tools, and analytics providers. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
We share it with regulators and law enforcement, including the New York State Liquor Authority, when we are legally required to produce records or to respond to lawful process, and with our accountants, lawyers, and insurers where they need it. If you send a gift, the recipient will see your name. If all or part of our business is ever sold or reorganized, customer information may pass to the buyer. And we will share your information with anyone else you direct us to.
We do not sell your personal information for money. This website may use third-party analytics and advertising cookies, and that use can count as "targeted advertising" or a "sale" of personal information under some state privacy laws. You can opt out at any time, as described in Section 8.
6. Email and text messages
We send marketing email, and text messages if you opt in. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help, and use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
Opting out of marketing does not stop messages about orders you have already placed, such as confirmations, delivery updates, and receipts. We do not send marketing to anyone we cannot confirm is 21 or older.
7. Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work — your cart, your login, and security — and cookies that help us understand how the site is used and measure our advertising. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, though blocking the necessary ones will stop checkout from working. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of targeted advertising for any browser that sends it.
8. Your choices and rights
New York does not yet have a general consumer privacy law, but we offer these rights to everyone who shops with us, wherever you live. You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy of it, to correct anything inaccurate, to delete information you gave us or that we collected about you, or to stop using your information for marketing, targeted advertising, or profiling.
To make a request, email nycentralwinespirits@gmail.com or call (212) 787-4465. We will confirm your identity against the information in your account and reply within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why.
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, that law may give you additional rights, including a right to appeal if we turn your request down and a right to complain to your state Attorney General. Tell us where you live and we will handle your request under that law.
There are limits to what we can do. We cannot delete records the law requires us to keep, including the age-verification and sales records required by the New York State Liquor Authority, and we cannot delete information we still need in order to complete an order you have placed.
9. Sensitive information
Two things we collect are treated as sensitive under some laws. The first is your device location, which we use only with your permission and only to check whether we can deliver to you. The second is your government-issued ID information, which we use only to confirm your age. We do not use either for advertising.
10. Security
As required by the New York SHIELD Act, we maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards for the personal information we hold. We encrypt information in transit, limit which staff can see it, and use established payment providers. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the authorities as New York law requires.
11. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and afterward for as long as we need it for the purposes described above, including the periods New York law sets for sales, age-verification, and tax records. We keep marketing information until you opt out. After that, we delete it or strip out anything that identifies you.
12. Other websites
This site links to websites and services we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own.
13. Changes to this policy
We will post any change on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
